1-Day Kids Workshop: Beyond Basics

A playful intro to clay, designed just for kids aged 5 and above.

This workshop is perfect for kids who’ve had a little clay experience before—whether at school, another studio, or our first kids workshop. That said, it’s also suitable for complete beginners! Just let us know during purchase so we can tailor the guidance accordingly.

In this 1.5 hour workshop, we’ll dive deeper into foundational hand building techniques as you create your very own handmade ceramic ware.

You will learn the basics of coiling (a new technique not covered in our first basic kids workshop), and dive deeper into pinching and slab-making techniques to create larger and more sophisticated pieces. You will also get to add beautiful colours to your pieces using underglazes as part of this class.

Bring your designs or ideas to the table, and let us help you turn your ceramic dreams into its fired reality!

Parents are welcome to join in! Just purchase a separate ticket if you’d like to participate alongside your child. You are entitled to a 5% discount if you purchase 2 pax or more in a single order!

This workshop is also suitable if your child has no prior experience, just mention it during the purchase so we can take note

Read Before You Book

Spots are first-come, first-served. We don’t hold slots or run waitlists.
Each course needs at least 3 people to commence. If we don’t hit that, we’ll refund you in full.
Fired pieces must be collected within 2 months of your final class. We don’t send reminders, and uncollected pieces may be discarded after this period.

Firing & Collection Policy

Your pieces will be ready about 3–4 weeks after your final glazing class. Once they’re out of the kiln, you’ll have 2 months to pick them up.

Uncollected pieces may be recycled or cleared after 2 months to make space

Reschedules & Replacements

Can’t make it?

Unfortunately, we aren’t able to offer make-up sessions for this one-day workshop, but you’re welcome to transfer your spot to a friend or family member and email us their name at hello@studiotomo.xyz before the session starts.

Can parents stay and observe?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to hang around during the workshop. If you’d like to participate alongside your child, just purchase an additional ticket for a 5% discount off!

What should my child wear?

Anything comfy that can get a little messy. Aprons are optional, but clay washes off easily with water.

What should we bring?

Just yourselves! All materials are provided. If your child has longer nails, you might want to trim them beforehand — it makes working with clay a little easier. Aprons are optional, but clay washes off easily.

Is this workshop suitable for first-timers?

Yes! This session is designed for kids who are new to clay. We’ll guide them through everything step by step.

When do I get my finished pieces?

We’ll fire your work after class ends—it usually takes 2 weeks. You’ll have 2 months to collect your pieces. We don’t send reminder emails, so pop it in your calendar! Unclaimed pieces might get cleared to make space.
